Computer help at your kitchen table.
I'm a high school student here in Stuart. I fix the small computer and phone problems that are too annoying to live with and too small to pay a repair shop for. I explain things slowly, and I never make anyone feel silly for asking.
First 15 minutes on the phone are free. If I can't help, I'll tell you that instead of charging you.
Sound familiar?
- My printer worked yesterday and now it doesn't
- Something keeps popping up and I don't know if it's real
- I have 4,000 photos on my phone and no idea where they are
- My grandson set this up and now I can't get in
- The whole thing has gotten so slow
- I don't know which of these emails are safe to open
If you've said any of these out loud in the last month, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm good at.
What I can help with
- Printers that won't print
- Organizing files so you can find them again
- Setting up a new computer, phone, or tablet
- Moving photos and files off an old device
- Backing things up so they're not lost
- Passwords: writing them down somewhere safe and sane
- Clearing out pop-ups and junk software
- Making text bigger and easier to read
- Setting up video calls with family
- Showing you which emails and texts are scams
- Streaming and smart TV setup
- Untangling the cables behind the desk
Not on the list? Call and describe it. If it's beyond me, I'll say so and point you to someone who does it for a living.
How it works
-
1
You call and describe it
In whatever words you've got. You don't need to know the right terms. Sometimes we solve it right there on the phone, and that's free.
-
2
I come to you
Usually after school or on a weekend. Nothing gets unplugged and hauled away. We work at your desk, on your machine.
-
3
I show you what I did
Before I leave, I walk you through it so you can do it yourself next time. I'll write it down for you if that helps.
What it costs
- First 15 minutes on the phone: free
- Longer jobs: $40 for each additional hour, agreed before I start
- No trip fee within 8 miles of I-95 and Kanner
- Outside that range: call to arrange, may include a small travel fee
- No charge if I can't help, up to the first 30 minutes
- Cash, Venmo, or Zelle
A word about trust
I'm a local high school student, not a company. That's the whole pitch: I'm nearby, I'm patient, and I cost a fraction of a shop.
My parent handles scheduling and comes along on first visits. I'm happy to give you the names of neighbors I've already helped. And I'll never ask you to hand over a password without you watching what I do with it.
